![]() It began with the unexpected absence of the group’s tour guide: the illustrious Professor Elias Baxter. The plot of Poseidon’s Fury crescendoed in such a satisfying way from the beginning through the very end. Thinking back on Poseidon’s Fury and the experiences I’ve had in there, I can definitely say this attraction has had an impact on me. I really can’t describe the emotions I’m feeling while writing this. The Story was Inspiring “Oh this is a tomb!” (Image credit: Universal Orlando Resort) It evoked realism and adventure in ways few queues can accomplish. I honestly believe this queue was among the best at Universal Orlando-right up there with the resort’s premier attractions. The cold stone walls, ancient murals, and reliced artifacts added intrigue to the adventures ahead. This beautifully composed soundtrack had mystifying chords that amplified the temple’s exotic queue area. The Queue was Wondrous A dolphin mural on the ceiling in the final area of the queue (Image credit: Jeremy Thompson)Įver since I heard the news about this attraction’s closure, I’ve had the music from the queue stuck in my head. Some may argue this attraction’s facade was greater than the actual experience I disagree, but opinion is a testament to how stunning the exterior was. The long-winding pathways to the temple were an adventure, passing by the remains of an impressive statue that would’ve been hundreds of feet tall before crumbling away. As water flowed and mist rose, the glorious ruins of the temple made any guest stop and admire the sight. Poseidon’s Fury had one of the more impressive facades out there. Its Facade was Legendary The entrance area of Poseidon’s Fury (Image credit: Storybook Amusement) The tour was filled with adventure, mystery, comedy, incredible effects, and some of the worst on-screen acting in any theme park attraction it was perfect. In these age-old chambers, Poseidon battled his foe, Lord Darkennon, who was desperate for the Greek god’s trident. The climax of Poseidon’s Fury (Image credit: Universal Orlando Resort)įor those who haven’t experienced it, Poseidon’s Fury was a guided walkthrough attraction that took guests on an archaeological journey through a series of chambers in the Temple of Poseidon. I won’t claim to know every attraction on the face of this earth, but I honestly can’t think of another attraction like Poseidon’s Fury. I can honestly say Poseidon’s Fury was unique in the truest definition of that word. How many attractions are actually unique? There are thousands of roller coasters and dark rides out there, and many are pretty similar. To be “unique,” that attraction has to be truly one of a kind-unlike any other attraction. ![]() When people say a ride is “unique,” they might mean it’s special or impressive. Join me on this quick journey celebrating the final Lost Continent attraction to sink: Poseidon’s Fury. I’m tempted to turn over every stone about this attraction and dive deep into its past, but I’ll keep it somewhat brief today and focus on what made it special. I have an ocean’s worth of emotions to pour out after the sudden news that The Lost Continent’s final remaining attraction will close permanently. Since then, The Lost Continent has slowly lost its identity as attractions closed one by one: Dueling Dragons, The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad, and now Poseidon’s Fury. The land was chopped in half about a decade after opening to make room for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade. Out of all of Islands of Adventure’s lands, The Lost Continent has seen the most change. No, I’m here to celebrate The Lost Continent’s longest-running attraction: Poseidon’s Fury. I’m not even here to get into the wild history of this one. I’m not here to speculate what will take its place. Poseidon’s Fury is closing at Universal Islands of Adventure this May.
